New Last Shadow Puppets Videos and Laura Marling Returns to NYC
The Last Shadow Puppets have beefed up their album’s website to feature a number of live performances recorded in early March at Avatar Studios in NYC. I honestly cannot wait for The Age of the Understatement’s release on May 6th (Stateside). Turner and Kane are a force to be reckoned with. Miles Kane’s band,The Rascals, are up and coming and I don’t think this side project is going to hinder their impending success. Sometimes I can’t help but marvel at Alex Turner’s talent and it’s really good to see he’s capable of working within some other styles and settings. Miles Kane is definitely a formidable musical collaborator for Turner and the closeness of their friendship really shows through.
This photo alone made me want to move to Sheffield:
Also, am I alone in thinking Miles bears a striking resemblence to Paul McCartney circa 1965?

The Last Shadow Puppets are going to be on Later With Jools Holland this Friday.
UK indie folk darling, Laura Marling, is going to be returning to NYC in May to open for Adam Green at his Town Hall show on the 10th. This will be her second jaunt to the city after a short stint of opening slots in January. This is what The New Yorker had to say about her:
Among the current crop of young female singers from England (Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Kate Nash, et al.), Marling stands out for a couple of reasons. At seventeen, she’s the youngest of the lot, and, as an ethereal folkie, she’s on a different course than her more pop-centric compatriots. Her songs are incisive, haunting, and lyrically barbed.
Hopefully she’ll be announcing some small headlining shows for May in addition to this gig.

I’m undecided about this band…
wait, oh my god, he does look like Paul!
Miles is much better looking in real life, in fact they both are.
I like this band. The lyrics are quick and it’s nice to see a new band who doesn’t have the usual and stereotypical list of influences.
