Day 2 at Electric Zoo

Al Doyle at Hot Chip at Electric Zoo, 9.6.09

We got a late start for the last day of Electric Zoo after a night of afterpartying, but had a visual and sonic feast catching live sets by Desyn Masiello, Al Doyle, Ferry Corsten, Victor Calderone, James Holden, James Murphy, ATB and David Guetta.

We had such a great experience the first day of Electric Zoo and had a lot of fun with the crowd of candy ravers, guidos, guidettes, and die hard electronic music fans. The MTA even stepped it up providing fast and frequent buses to and from Randall’s Island. It was a winning weekend for electronic music and a nice closer to the summer. Check out my highlights from the festival below, see ya at the Zoo next year! (Pictures taken by Ted for Tastes Like Caramel where noted)

Al Doyle of Hot Chip 7:00 – 8:30PM, Groove Discotheque

Al played a great house music set and dropped Hot Chip’s Ready for the Floor at just the right moment.

Ferry Corsten 7:00 – 9:00PM, Main Stage

Ferry Corsten played the main stage at Electric Zoo, an epic over the top trance set that moved the crowd in all sense of the word. It was an awesome experience to be a part of it.

Victor Calderone 8:00 – 9:30PM, Sunday School Hilltop

Brooklyn’s Victor Calderone has remixed some of top divas of the world but his set was heavily based in heavy bass. Pounding house anthems filled the tent while an amazing light show visually narrated his highly interactive set.

James Murphy (of LCD Soundsystem) 8:30 – 11:00PM, Groove Discotheque

Legendary James Murphy of LCD Soundsytem played a special Disco live set in the Groove Discotheque tent on Sunday night. It felt like a retro scene from an Al Pacino movie with everyone grooving to the his solid set with Pat Mahoney.

ATB 9:30 – 11:00PM, Riverside Arena

I’ve been familiar with ATB since my early days experiencing the New York dance culture so it was cool to check out ATB’s set in the Riverside Arena. The smoke and laser show created a beautiful sky-like visual above the crowd

David Guetta 9:00 -11:00PM, Main Stage >>

David Guetta was the perfect closer for Electric Zoo and probably the most fun to dance to. He played a surprisingly amazing set, dropping pounding and unexpected tunes including everything from Lil’ Wayne’s A Milli to Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
