Delorean’s 2 AM Surprise Gig at Coco 66

Last fall I caught Delorean‘s awesome live set at le poisson rouge during CMJ and hoped to catch them in Austin during SXSW but failed.

However on Friday afternoon I was informed of a last minute “secret” 2 AM show at Greenpoint’s Coco 66 following their supporting spot for Miike Snow that night. I planned my night around the show, arriving just as the show started and immediately joined the mosh pit up front that did not let up until the band’s last notes.

I sweat completely through my oxford shirt and snapped only a few pictures between catching my breath. It was an all out dance rriot complete with lasers and smoke, nothing like the tame industry crowd over at LPR last fall. I’m not sure what their headlining show tonight at Mercury Lounge will entail but if Friday night was any indication I’d make sure to hydrate and dress a bit more casual!
