SXSW 2010: Rye Rye and Fenech-Soler at Hype Machine’s Lose Control 2

Two of my SXSW highlights were from Hype Machine’s Lose Control 2 party at Vice: Rye Rye and Fenech-Soler.  Having seen Rye Rye support M.I.A. in 2008 I was looking forward to her 2009 debut, which was ultimately delayed by the debut of her first child. Thankfully the 19 year old Baltimore native has returned with her undeniably catchy and pounding sound that is even more amplified onstage. Hopefully we’ll be seeing much more of her in 2010!

Following Rye Rye’s set was Fenech-Soler, a 4-piece electronic band from Kings Cliffe, UK. You may be familiar with their singles for Lies and Stop and Stare or their remix of Marina and the Diamond’s Hollywood but they’ve got a lot more to offer. We caught up with Fenech-Soler to discuss what’s next in store for them in downtown Austin prior to their gig-  stay tuned to hear what they had to say!
