Hot Chip and The Xx at Terminal 5 [Pictures + Video]
Thursday night was my second time catching Hot Chip this year, the first time being at the much smaller venue Highline Ballroom for the MySpace Secret Show. It was also about the 6th time I’ve seen The Xx since last summer, each time progressively better.
The Xx played a 30-minute set to a backdrop of bright lights and ended on a high note with Oliver smashing cymbals during Infinity before leaving the stage. It was a dramatic and bad ass way to end the set!
Hot Chip got onstage at about 9PM and kicked off their nearly 2-hour set with Hand Me Down Your Love. 10 songs in Hot Chip left the stage only to return moments later for their encore that featured their cover of Shakira‘s She-Wolf [video below]! Hot Chip never disappoints!
After the show it was time to head down to one of our favorite West Village haunts LePoisson Rouge for The Xx’s Jamie and Romy’s Afterparty/DJ set…
