The Joy Formidable at Mercury Lounge

I missed the The Joy Formidable‘s last New York gig but luckily the North Wales band played an encore performance Monday night at Mercury Lounge. Ritzy, Rhydian and Matt collectively played one of the most rocking sets I’ve seen thus far in 2010, even managing to move the stiff industry folk who comprised about 90% of the audience.

I was floored by how effortlessly the trio smashed their set, especially digging the sound effects between songs. Très Rock. The band is still unsigned but I highly doubt that will last very long! Be sure to catch The Joy Formidable somewhere along their tour throughout summer!
