New Lady Gaga Music Video: Alejandro

I think it’s become standard practice for Lady Gaga to hype and delay the release of her music videos but either way it’s a pop culture moment not to miss. The Steven Klein-directed music video for her current single Alejandro garnered a lot of controversy for it’s “homoerotic military theme,” what do you guys make of it?

  1. Don’t think she could have got more controversial topics into this video if she tried!

  2. Can’t help but think the Catholic Church is going to be up in arms about this… even though they have far more pressing issues they should be busying themselves with.

Also as a Catholic I am not offended by this video.

  4. Dont know about you but im so bored of shove-my-crotch in your face to sell records, and didn’t Madonna do this like 3 centuries ago (it screams like a virgin), I think people can come up with way better concepts nowadays. I could say more but I dont care to…

  5. “Also as a Catholic I am not offended by this video.”

…well, as a Madonna fan, I am offended, what a rip off of everything Madonna and Steven Klein ever created together (W photoshoots, promo vids for tours, etc.) what makes it worse is that Klein is complicit in ripping himself and M off.

  6. Ridiculous sacriligious imagery is too easy when it’s all christian imagery. Some archbishop somewhere is gonna say they don’t approve but nothing is going to actually happen.

If she’d got out a prayer mat and stripped off in a mosque, that would actually get a worthwhile reaction.

  7. totally agree with tom. it’s become “mainstream” to critique Christianity. if she wanted to evoke a reaction (didn’t give a shit about what people thought of her) she’d go buckwild with a turban on her head.

  8. She does remind me a WHOLE lot of Madonna, but there’s just one difference. She is much more conceptual in her thinking than Madonna ever was in her career. All I remember is Madonna talking about free speech regarding sexuality. Gaga goes way more in depth. I mean, come on, Madonna adopted religions as many times as she adopted African orphans. Gaga was always super alternative from the beginning. She simply has much more to her politically in my opinion…But that’s just me.
