DON’T MISS: Afro-Punk Music Festival 2011 Featuring Santigold, Janelle Monae, Cee-Lo Green, Res, Kenna and more!

As summer rapidly comes to a close, one of the live music events high on my To-Do list has been the upcoming free Afro-Punk Festival in Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park. On it’s 7th edition, the festival wrangled in some amazing acts that include Santigold, Janelle Monae, Cee-Lo Green, Kenna, Res and many more (full line-up below). The festival is a melting pot of art, live music, BMX and skate culture spread across Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th, described by The New York Times as putting “rock and rebellion squarely in the category of African-American music”.

I urge you to not miss this one, especially if you too are dying to hear some new Santigold material. Check out a few tracks from festival acts below and gather up your crew. The festival schedule is available HERE along with directions. Visit for more information.
