The 2 Bears are: DJ Raf Daddy (aka Raphael Rundell, Ministry of Sound radio host, label head and promoter) and Joe Goddard (who released this gem in 2011) of Tastes Like Caramel favorite Hot Chip.

You may have heard their Bear Hug EP over the summer, but today their debut full-length Be Strong is released via DFA Records. To duo have also shared a free mix Whatever The Weather which you can listen to on your way to the local record store to purchase the album. Or…you could just download it via iTunes for just $7.99!! The show kicked off at 9:30 following a supporting set by Philadelphia’s Free Energy and was broadcast simultaneously on MySpace.com. The electronic quintet played 13 songs and 1 encore, clocking in at nearly 2 hours of absolute dance floor bliss! Hot Chip was in full form complete with steel drums, disco balls, synthesizers, keyboards, maracas, trumpets, drum machines, guitars and bass in full effect.

The set focused primarily on their new album One Life Stand but favorites such as Over and Over, Boy From School and One Pure Thought were present to the delight of old and new fans. Updated and live remixed songs kept the non-stop show fresh and unpredictable, with fans dancing and singing along to every lyric and melody.

This morning we got the official news that Hot Chip will be releasing their fourth studio album One Life Stand on February 8/9, 2010!  In a press release the album was described as the following:

One Life Stand sees a proliferation of influences as diverse as the burgeoning UK funky scene to soul music, modern R&B, Northern Soul, Gospel, Golden Age Electronica, House, the sounds of Arthur Russell, Prince and Theo Parish- and they all sit effortlessly alongside the band’s signature pop aesthetics, wild electronics, off kilter beats and intoxicating musical experimentation in a way that only Hot Chip can execute.
