The mix features ‘Stay Here’ an exclusive stinker composed by our good selves along with Toronto’s finest Azari & III. It’s in a Wild Pitch house style, so set the controls for NY circa Paris Is Burning and vogue your hearts out. We first met them in Toronto after hearing diamond-’ard bangers ‘Hungry For The Power’ and ‘Reckless With Your Love’. Cedric, their inimitable vocalist, turned up to the afterparty for one of our shows where your humble correspondant was spinning, and, once a microphone was sourced, belted out ‘Paris’ over whatever tough techno slammers I was playing. A big moment, and the genesis of this collaboration.

Of the song she told Rolling Stone: “I was having issues with my cable and wireless, and I was on the phone [with tech support] for three hours, and I thought, ‘Maybe this needs to be part of my music, could you just learn these lyrics and sing it down the phone to me?’ Ten phone calls later, I have Internet that sticks and a song.” WOW! Here is our first taste of M.I.A. in 2010!

M.I.A. also recently described her next album as “No gimmicks. It’s my third album, and I have to confront whether I am a musician or not … I wanted to make something that isn’t trendy just for three months, or the length of a DJ’s attention span.”

However, on Wednesday music fans went crazy for the news that the band were releasing a brand new song titled Chasing the Tear (tear as in rip) for Human Rights Day on December 10th! I immediately scoured the internet for more information that night and came across a few forums with links to an unnamed album.

This morning we got the official news that Hot Chip will be releasing their fourth studio album One Life Stand on February 8/9, 2010!  In a press release the album was described as the following:

One Life Stand sees a proliferation of influences as diverse as the burgeoning UK funky scene to soul music, modern R&B, Northern Soul, Gospel, Golden Age Electronica, House, the sounds of Arthur Russell, Prince and Theo Parish- and they all sit effortlessly alongside the band’s signature pop aesthetics, wild electronics, off kilter beats and intoxicating musical experimentation in a way that only Hot Chip can execute.
