The star-studded event featured the likes of celebroyalty Selma Blair, Parker Posey, Claire Danes, Patricia Fields and Michelle Trachtenberg and some others who seemed familiar-ish. Wine, champagne and pink cocktails flowed throughout the night while shoppers scurried and The Like provided the awesome soundtrack for the night!

Tracks such as Wishing He Was Dead and Narcissus In a Red Dress whet my appetite for their upcoming summer album, featuring production by no other than producer-extraordinaire Mark Ronson. Oh and just to address THIS – we were there, please read the COMMENTS for what really went down.

Quite different from what you’d expect to hear on an album by The Xx, Romy’s solo set consisted of hip hop and pop classics from the likes of Aaliyah, Adina Howard and beyond. It was a great way to kick off the first Saturday of 2010.

Fans including myself were stoked for the performance…until hearing about the Major Snowstorm that hit the East Coast that day! However, we all braved the intense and horrible weather conditions to catch Rihanna perform 4 songs with two run-throughs each. The highlight of the show for me was when Jay-Z joined Rihanna onstage for Run This Town and Umbrella, flawless performances!

The experience was definitely a test of endurance but the show was impressive enough to say it was worth it. Amanda Blank was first up and after having seen her set four times this year alone, it was clear that Amanda was bringing something bigger something better to the stage this time around. Her 45-minute set began after 9PM and included 2 DJ’s, a drummer, the obligatory Spank Rock guest spot AND a choreography section with background dancers!

Fans were promised a revamped show for the current leg of Peaches‘ tour, which worried/intrigued me after having seen the incredible shows in May and again in June!

Anticipation and excitement was at an all time high at 10PM when Terminal 5 filled up with smoke and 4 figures took the stage shrouded in hairy monster outfits to the Blade Runner theme song. The music then transitioned from Mud to Talk to Me, in which Peaches shed the monster shell to reveal a Rainbow Brite-like leotard before diving into the crowd for her obligatory crowd surf performance.

The absolute highlight (beside the incredible outfits) was the lazer show for Take You On, in which Peaches and her band Sweet Machine played 3 electronic lazers that produced the backing beat for the song. Monstrously epic. Peaches never ceases to amaze and continuously puts on a show that we will never bore of!

The party was in celebration of the Fred Perry brand and Friendly Fires kicking off their winter NYLON tour Thursday night in Texas with The Xx. We had the pleasure of interviewing the band before their set for an upcoming feature on the site and were right up front for the band’s stellar 7-song set!

The boys were great both onstage and in the hotseat for our interview, adding fuel to the flames of our anticipation for the tour and the upcoming album which you can learn more about in our exclusive interview coming soon! Stay tuned!

The onstage collaborations were great but the duet with El Perro Del Mar for Young Folks was the highlight of the set as well as Andrew WK’s puzzling interpretive dancing. My only complaint was the omission of Up Against The Wall, one of my all-time favorite songs by the band.

The afterparty at Bowery Electric included a Japanese band called The Suzan, chosen by Bjorn as a surprise for his bandmates. The Suzan performed interesting covers of PB&J songs and in the end I got my fix of Up Against the Wall in an unexpected form.
